PublicationsThe International Seminar: "Atlante dei Sacri Monti, Calvari e Complessi devozionali europei. Linee di integrazione e sviluppo"(The Atlas of the European Sacred Mounts, Calvaries and Devotional Complexes. Lines of Integration and Development), held in Varallo in April 1996, was an extremely important event in the history of the Sacred Mounts. That meeting, in fact, for the first time enabled the numerous experts and scholars in the field, coming from many European nations, to share and discuss their information on European devotional sites. On that occasion, moreover, the intention grew to collaborate on a study and research project to census, classify and catalogue this precious heritage that merges art and religious devotion, history and the natural environment.

This publication is extremely interesting for the quality of the contributions offered, and it includes the descriptions of the principal devotional complexes of Europe (in Italy, Austria, Hungary, Germany Poland, Slovakia, the Iberian Peninsula, France and Ireland).
